  • The whole airport community ready for another dynamic season

Belgrade, June 11, 2024 – Belgrade Airport, member of VINCI Airports, is finalising major works on reconstruction, modernisation and extension of Nikola Tesla airport. Several key improvements are implemented since the previous summer season marked with record-breaking traffic, that will contribute to a more efficient and comfortable passengers experience from this summer onwards.

As many as 90 check-in counters will be available to the airlines and their ground service providers during this summer season instead of last year's 57. At departures, passengers have at their disposal 16 channels for Border police passport control and 12 baggage screening devices with state-of-the-art technology that allows electrical devices to remain in hand luggage during screening, speeding up the entire process and saving time. Last summer, due to ongoing works, 6 screening devices were available.

New, main free shop was opened in May, with a three times larger area than before, with significantly enriched content. It is a part of future renovated central departure area with zones designed for passengers to spend fun, educational & relaxation time. Renovation is ongoing, and the whole new central departure area will feature a rich commercial offer mixing local flavours with well recognized international brands.

In the arrivals area, passport control is now equipped with 13 channels, compared to 8 channels available last summer season. Furthermore, the expansion and modernization of the baggage claim area is ongoing. This summer season there will be 5 baggage carousels and as much as three times more space for passengers, compared to last year's 4 carousels available. Also, the baggage handling system has been upgraded and expanded, with increased capacity of approximately 3.800 bags per hour. The system is now interconnected with all check in and bagage reclaim areas making the whole process  more efficient for both passengers and ground handling operators in charge of baggage handling.

Furthermore, various airport sectors are unified on a single location within state of the art Airport operation control center that monitor and oversee day to day operations thus enabling timely reaction and more efficient processes and communication flow.

Thanks to these and many major milestones already achieved like extension, modernisation and redesign of the terminal, centralization of passengers screening that allowed separation of departure and arrival passenger flows, reconstruction and modernization of access roads and car parks and through professional cooperation with all entities within airport community, Belgrade Airport will continue to focus on providing a high level of service and comfort to passengers and airlines.
