Bus Gate
A new bus gate (waiting area for remote stand operations) with a total of 130 seats is located on the ground floor of the Terminal, in the area of pier A.The bus gate has two direct exits to the apron. It is adapted to all categories of passengers.
Pier C
The extension of pier C represents a part of the first phase of the passenger terminal expansion and reconstruction project. The works commenced on March 4, and the completion is expected by the end of 2022. The first phase of works on the terminal includes the extension and reconstruction of the terminal building with an area of about 27,000 m2. In this phase, pier C will be extended, thus providing an additional 8 boarding exits equipped with air bridges, 4 exits designated for the handling of a passenger on flights at open parking positions, an additional roof-covered corridor for incoming passengers, and the configuration of open space waiting area intended for boarding as well as a zone for movement of departing passengers.
Appron E
The construction of apron E on an area of approximately 25,000 m2 will enable the modernization and improvement of aircraft handling capacity at open parking positions, providing the configuration of three stops for aircraft with a wingspan of up to 36 m. The apron will have its own lighting and drainage system. The new apron will significantly increase the parking capacity and improve storage of ground handling equipment, and due to the proximity of the cargo terminal, it will be an optimal solution for servicing cargo planes.
Inserted runway
Since its original construction, the existing main runway has never been completely renovated As part of the modernization project, the main runway will be reconditioned, new taxiways and manoeuvre areas will be constructed, thus supporting the future projections of traffic increase. In order to insure interrupted flow of regular traffic during the renovation of the main runway, a new, inserted runway is being built in total length of 3,500 m. Following the completion of the reconstruction works on the main runway, the inserted runway will gain a dominant role as a parallel taxiway and thus contribute to increasing the operational reliability and availability of the airport.
